The Artisan

Hello, my name is Sid and thank you for visiting the Shards of  Glass Art website.
Ever since I was a young lad I have been enthralled and mesmerized by the way light commingles and interacts with colored glass. I still remember my first visit to St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City and being amazed by the beautiful awe-inspiring crafted panels of stained glass. As I grew older I  started to explore my artistic side. My first love was photography and tinkering in the darkroom, but I became frustrated and disillusioned with the digital revolution. At this point I started working in glass, and fell in love with the process and materials. My first art pieces were framed stained glass window pieces but now I concentrate on creating unique and functional fused glass home decor which I feel lets me bring a more tactile and three dimensional quality to my art work.

The Design and Construction

I'M AN ORIGINAL CATCHPHRASE

I’m a paragraph. Double click here or click Edit Text to add some text of your own or to change the font. This is the place for you to tell your site visitors a little bit about you and your services.

My aim as a fused glass artisan is to produce unique and functional fused glass art pieces that are quite striking while retaining a more tactile and three dimensional quality. When planning the design and construction of my pieces I strive  to incorporate multiple layers of smaller shards and pieces of colored glass that interact and compliment each other enhancing the overall color, design and aesthetic feel of the art piece. The glass fusing process requires these multiple pieces  be fired in a glass kiln, most requiring several firings, that allow me as an artisan to control and manipulate the final design elements. The firing process also anneal the glass elements making them more durable. My utmost goal and desire is to create art pieces that customers are proud to own and display in their homes.
